Be proud on exam results day

Two students looking at exam results together

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System is celebrating young people across the area today as thousands of students get their exam results.

This is the first year since the start of the pandemic in which students have sat traditional exams. COVID-19 has sadly caused disruption to learning for young people, so today it’s important to be proud of what you have achieved – whatever your grades are.

Results day can be incredibly exciting and positive, but we know the results might be disappointing for some of our local students too. If you are getting your results today, or if you are a parent or carer of someone who is getting their results, support is available to help you with stress and anxiety, as well as with practical career advice.

If the results you get today are not what you expected, you can speak to the National Careers Service to discuss what you might want to do next. You can find out more about this service via www.nationalcareers.service.gov.uk. You might also find it helpful to speak to some of the adults around you, as you’ll probably find that many people who now have fulfilling, enjoyable jobs got to their current careers through unexpected paths.

If you are struggling with your mental health because of your results, please reach out to one of the brilliant support organisations that work in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. You can visit our local mental health website, Keep Your Head, via www.keep-your-head.com/cyp to find a collection of resources for children and young people. For immediate access to support, visit Kooth via www.kooth.com for an online chat service, or use the local Chat Health text line via 07480 635 443.

You can also text SHOUT to 85258 to reach a free, confidential and anonymous text support service that is available 24/7.

No matter what results you get today, please take a moment to acknowledge how hard you’ve worked and remember that life is more than a grade.
