  • App can help people reduce their alcohol intake. According to a large randomised controlled trial funded by the NIHR a free smartphone app, Drink Less, can help people who would benefit most from reducing their alcohol consumption to do so successfully
  • Handing out vapes in A&E helps smokers quit. Giving out free e-cigarette starter packs to smokers in hospital A&E departments helps more people quit, NIHR-funded research finds.
  • The Importance of early cardiac screening for young people. Dr Steven Cox, Chief Executive of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), explains why the UK Government must re-think its approach to specialist cardiac screening to reduce mortality among young people with conditions that can cause sudden cardiac death.
