Healthcare staff nominated for brand new local NHS awards

The new Practice Learning Awards is organised by the ICS to celebrate learners and educators in nursing, midwifery and Allied health professions (AHP) in a range of areas including innovation, peer support and being an advocate for service users.

Since nominations opened in March 2024, 150 entries from across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Royston were received. The submissions demonstrated the positive impacts made by apprentices, students, practice assessors and others, when it comes to learning experiences.

Practice learning involves various training opportunities to keep growing professionally, such as work placements, classes and online learning. It is supervised and structured to improve skills and knowledge and usually involves assessment of the learner.

Emily Handley, Clinical Learning Environment Lead at NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, part of the ICS, said: “When we read the nominations, we saw how dedicated our nursing, midwifery and Allied Health professional learners are when it comes to expanding their skills and knowledge, and that our educators are providing the next generation of staff with inspiring and first-class educational experiences.

“We’re excited to celebrate both inspirational teachers and brilliant learners at next month’s awards ceremony.”

Senior educators and leaders from across the ICS form the judging panel and will announce the winners at an event at the Cambridge Bio Medical Campus on Friday 21 June.
