The local NHS is encouraging eligible people who’ve not had their COVId-19 vaccine, to get protected before the spring COVID-19 vaccination programme ends on 17 June 2025.
Over 60,000 people have been vaccinated across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Royston since the spring COVID-19 vaccination programme started on 1 April 2025.
Anyone who’s eligible for the vaccine and not been vaccinated can still come forward and get theirs. The COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for people who are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19, this includes anyone who is:
- aged 75 or over (including those who will be 75 by 17 June 2025)
- aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment
- living in a care home for older adults.
Cali Makewell, Integrated Vaccination Service Lead with NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said: “We’ve had a really warm start to spring 2025 and this might make it feel like you don’t need protection from an illness like COVID-19. But it’s not just a winter virus and it circulates around our local communities all year round.
“We know that vaccinations continue to be our best form of protection against severe COVID-19 symptoms and hospitalisation. So I would encourage anyone who has not yet had their spring booster to ensure they get their vaccine before it’s too late.”
There is a selection of clinics available across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, some offering walk-in sessions or bookable appointments, as well as quiet clinics for those who need them.
